TN-V-1 and TN-V-2 STAMP TEXT:

Great Smoky Mountains National Park

(date)

Gatlinburg, TN 37738

These stamps are not official Eastern National stamps, but very similar to the regular issue stamps. This is presumably because they are available just outside the National Park and not within the limits. (See TN-V-5 as well for a similar non-official stamp.)

The stamp on the left is found at the Welcome Center on Hwys 441/321 which is between Gatlinburg, TN and Pigeon Forge, TN. Try to get the stamp to do it yourself. Mine was the best of the group I was with as everyone else's was smeared because the woman wanted to do it herself.

The stamp on the right is available in downtown Gatlinburg at a Welcome Center which is next to Stoplight #3 and in front of a public parking garage. There are also reports that a similar stamp may be available at the Aquarium about 2 blocks away.

TN-V-3 STAMP TEXT:

(Stamp Courtesy of Dick Schaefer)

This stamp is available at 2 locations. The first is at the Permit Rangers Station at the Entrance to Cades Cove. The second is at the Cades Cove Visitor Center. Both are self-inking styles. Be forewarned, I have heard it can take up to 3 hours or more to drive the Cades Cove loop. I plan to do this in May 2004 and will have more information then.

TN-V-4 STAMP TEXT:

(Stamp on the left is courtesy of Dick Schaefer)

The above stamps are from the Sugarlands Visitor Center which is just South of Gatlinburg. When I visited in May of 2003, the stamp on the right was available at the Bookstore within the Visitor Center and closely resembles the Cades Cove Stamp (TN-V-3). I believe it has been removed though as the stamp on the left is reported at the Visitor Center Information Desk and at the Bookstore within the Visitor Center. It is a self-inking style. Therefore, the stamp on the right I have decided is officially retired or is the general stamp used for Cades Cove Inner Stamp if it is separated.

TN-V-5 STAMP TEXT:

Great Smoky Mountains Nat'l Park

(date)

Townsend, TN 37882

This stamp is another non-official stamp as it was not released by Eastern National. It is available at the Townsend Welcome Center which is on the West side of the Park off Hwy 321. It is a self-inking style stamp.

NC-VI-1 STAMP TEXT:

This stamp along with the following NC-I-2 stamp are found at the Oconaluftee Visitor Center which is near the North Carolina/Tennessee border. This stamp is located at the Information Desk.

NC-I-2 STAMP TEXT:

This stamp is available in addition to the NC-VI-1 stamp above and located at the Information desk at the Oconaluftee Visitor Center for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is exactly the same as the stamps found along the Blue Ridge Parkway at milepost 382 (Folk Art Center) and the Park Headquarters at milepost 384.
